Aryeh Neier is the president of the Open Society Institute; formerly he was a founder and executive director of Human Rights Watch and executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union. He is Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University, author of six books, and frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books and many other periodicals. Neier is writing A History of the Human Rights Movement for the PUP series.
