Associate Director Leslie Gerwin moderates panel on Making the Case for Reproductive Choice in Health Care Reform

Associate LAPA Director Leslie Gerwin moderated a panel discussion on how issues of reproductive justice, and particularly access to abortion services, are affecting support for health care reform.  The panel, sponsored by Law Students for Reproductive Justice, took place at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law on November 4.  Three advocates for women's rights experienced in litigation, grass roots organizing, coalition building, and the legislative process examined the challenges to developing health care proposals given the strong pro-choice and anti-abortion sentiments of supporters and opponents.

As a public policy consultant, Professor Gerwin's area of expertise included women's access to health care including pre-natal care and reproductive choice options.  She is an adjunct professor of law at Cardozo Law School where she teaches a course in Public Health Law and Policy.
