Jessica Trounstine is an Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at Princeton University. Her research interests include urban politics, political parties, and electoral institutions at the sub-national level. Her work has focused on the representation of traditionally under-represented groups in American states and cities, and combines qualitative historical analysis with quantitative methods. Jessica is the author of a number of articles on these topics and a book manuscript on city politics entitled Urban Empires: The Rise and Fall of Monopoly Government in American Cities. She has current projects investigating felon disenfranchisement, voter mobilization at the local level, and the effect of election laws on political outcomes and policy. In addition to academics Jessica has served as a fellow with the National Sustainable Cities Leadership Project, worked as a consultant for city government reform, and was a spokesperson for California Governor Gray Davis. Jessica received her PhD in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego in 2004.
