Sarah KaiksowSociology, PhD candidate |
Sarah Kaiksow is a PhD student in Sociology and a graduate associate in the Law and Public Affairs program. Her research interests include women and gender studies, Middle Eastern studies, Islamic and international law, and variations in state formation. Her dissertation examines the role of human rights monitoring in the advancement of democratic governance. In 2012, she was awarded a National Science Foundation Law and Social Sciences Division Dissertation Grant. Alongside her academic work, Sarah has worked with local women's NGOs in the Middle East to provide start-up and development support, and has served as a Technical Committee member reviewing grants from the Arab States for the UN WOMEN's Fund for Gender Equality.
