Floyd Abrams, a partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, LLP and author of The Friends of the Court: On the Front Lines with the First Amendment, will present a public lecture at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall, on the Princeton University campus. A book sale and signing of his book, The Friends of the Court, and public reception will follow the discussion in Shultz Dining Room.
Abrams is a member of the executive committee and Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP's litigation practice group. He has a national trial and appellate practice and extensive experience in high-visibility matters, often involving First Amendment, securities litigation, intellectual property, public policy and regulatory issues.
Abrams has argued frequently in the Supreme Court in a large number of its most significant First Amendment cases. He was co-counsel to The New York Times in the Pentagon Papers case. Most recently, Floyd prevailed in his argument before the Supreme Court in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case. In his oral argument to the Court, Abrams defended the rights of corporations and unions to speak publicly about politics and elections.
This event is co-sponsored with the Woodrow Wilson School.
