The Program in Law and Public Affairs and the Pace Center will host a one-day workshop on prison-based higher education on May 1, 2009. The workshop will address the current and future state of prison-based higher education programs across the US. Program directors, educators, funders and state criminal justice practitioners will gather to discuss how programs can thrive through changing policy regimes and times of scarce resources, as well as challenges faced in continuing and expanding current programs.
Through a series of panels and discussions, the agenda will cover program content topics such as administrative structures, university support, accreditation, partnerships with corrections facilities, pedagogy and curriculum, funding, and evaluation. The workshop will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and run until 5:00 p.m.
